These beautiful things are all handmade and sourced by me direct from Morocco. Because they're handmade, mainly by Berber women, there will be irregularities in the weave, the kilims may not be perfectly rectangular, and each one will be different. They are made of natural fibres dyed with a mix of vegetable and chemical dyes: for cleaning they require professional care and patch-testing. I have been told that the rugs and kilims are best cleaned by hanging them over a line and beating them. Don't vacuum them or you'll find the tassels getting pulled off and possibly even the weave unravelling. In an emergency you might get away with soap and coldwater - but patch-test first!

The rugs are tough enough to go on the floor, the kilims will be all right somewhere with light traffic like a bedroom - though I think they are better hung on walls as combined decoration and insulation. All are resistant to flame because of being made of natural fibres such as wool, silk and cotton, but will not be flame-proof.
